June was a rainy yet glorious month here in the mountains. The rain caused everything to grow extra tall, green, and lush. The temps were cooler and the humidity lower than usual. We crammed in a lot, but because I gave up on accomplishing anything practical (cleaning, cooking, etc.), it didn’t feel as busy as it sounds.
As a family, we’ve enjoyed evening walks, trips to the pool, cookouts with friends, and lots of backyard play. The kids have visited the Greenville Zoo, Biltmore Estate, Colburn Gem and Mine Museum, Pisgah National Forest, downtown Brevard, Splashville, the library, and quite a few local parks. Ryan took his first swim lessons, had a blast at Vacation Bible School, and finally conquered the monkey bars. Miles finished potty training (whew!) and went to the dentist for the first time. Abby mastered the army crawl and goes everywhere now. Paul spent 4 1/2 days in Minneapolis at a business conference and squeezed in some golf with his dad, including a Father’s Day tournament. And me? Well, I guess I made all of the above possible!
Abby is such a trooper on our many outings!
In my opinion, summer is incomplete without Granddaddy Longlegs.
Since Miles does not always handle new situations with grace, I sent Paul along for this “first.” Of course, Miles behaved perfectly!
You never know where you’ll find her these days!

Ready to eat after a morning of exploring Brevard!
The trails in our neighborhood make for lovely after dinner walks.
