We finally got a really nice snowfall this week! Regionally, it’s been dubbed Snowmaggedon or Snowpocalypse. Perhaps a bit dramatic, but we did end up with 8-9 inches at our house and it was beautiful. I love to have a snowfall like this at least once each winter. Everything shuts down, Paul gets to stay home from work, and there is no pressure to be anywhere or accomplish anything.
We walked in the snow, sledded, sipped warm drinks, watched movies, taught the boys UNO, ate big breakfasts, spent much of the day in pajamas, and made snow cream.
There aren’t many pictures of our fun, as Paul was outside solo with the boys while Abby and I mostly stayed in the warm house.
Early on Day 1 of the storm, we got 1-2 inches before the rest of the snow moved in that evening. It was the perfect amount for a long walk, especially for the shortest member of our family. I don’t think she could have taken a single step outdoors when all was said and done!
These dump trucks have been through a lot – water, sand, dirt, mulch, rocks, and now snow! Miles was quite disappointed when he tried to push and it barely moved. Paul kindly dug roads in the snow, which helped a little.
We found a simple and delicious recipe for snow cream. Obviously, it was a hit!
(And can you tell that we went through a lot of paper and ink? Glad I bought new markers the day before the storm!)
With every bite, Abby made this face…
…followed by this one. Then, she begged for more!
I think the extreme cold caught her by surprise!
Proof positive of extreme family fun
Now it’s Day 3. Paul is back at work, the snow is melting, and the boys are getting cranky. It will be nice to return to our normal routine, but it sure was fun while it lasted!
