As I finally sort through nearly two months worth of pictures, I can’t believe all of the fun we have had this month, from field trips and shopping to parties and baking. There’s been a lot of down time, though, too. We’ve enjoyed rainy days of back to back Christmas movies, after dinner drives to see the local light displays, lots of reading aloud, and a discussion provoking study of Jesus’ family tree. I think a break from the normal routines and work was exactly what we all needed. As you look at what we’ve been up to, you’ll see a lot of familiar sights from years past. Isn’t that exactly the way it should be at the holidays?

Tree Trimming
Christmas pajamas always miraculously appear under the tree on that first night.
Cousin Michelle and her family came into town to play tourist with us. It had been years since Paul and I had officially toured the house (audio guide and all!), and the kids never have. There is nothing like the House at Christmas!
As mothers of four each, this was the room we could relate to the most!
Lunchtime selfies with Katherine!
12 inches of snow!
Interestingly, we got 11 inches of snow on exactly the same day last year. We discovered an impressive sledding hill this year that drew the whole neighborhood and kept us all entertained for hours. The farmer who owns the hill (a good old boy if there ever was one) was so happy to welcome the kids. He even lit a burn barrel for warming up as needed.
Sledding videos here, here, here, and here.
Gingerbread houses at the Grove Park Inn
Per tradition, we all posed with our favorite!
Caleb was present but declined to be photographed.

A holiday date night!
A friend threw a fancy 40th birthday party last night, providing Paul and me with a rare opportunity to dress up.

'Tis the season to be jolly…Fa la la la la, la la la la!
