COVID-19: Week 6 (?)

I had to double and triple-check that it is indeed “Week 6” because it feels like at least Week 15! Paul was furloughed for one week by his main employer, and he got a peek into the world of filing for unemployment. We are beyond grateful that he is still is receiving a paycheck! He intended to complete a lot of yard projects. Instead he spent a lot of time here:

Week 6 8

Turns out everybody is working on their yards! We should have known since our town reported that calls for brush pickup have tripled since the shut down. So Paul (with mask in place) made lots of stops and returned with none of what he needed. Remember when we brazenly waited until the last minute, zipped into any of a number of stores, and selected what we wanted from the many options waiting on the shelves? Too tired/lazy/busy to drive a few miles? Amazon will have your beleaguered mail carrier deliver it tomorrow. Those were the good ole’ days, and we didn’t even know it!

One day this week, we needed to get everybody out the door and into the car. It was chaos! Only half of the family had shoes, no one had a coat, children kept wandering back inside, and then several trips had to be made back into the house for water bottles, snacks, etc. When Paul finally started the car, he said, “We’ve forgotten how to leave the house!” What used to happen with ease a dozen times a week now feels awkward. How the mighty have fallen in only 35 days!
