It was funny to wrap up school, a time when we normally celebrate free time at home…only to realize we’ve already had way too much free time at home! We were ready to get out, but there really isn’t any place to go. Some days have dragged and others have felt like the summers of old.
One way we decided to mix things up in a COVID-friendly way was to work our way through all 9 of the Star Wars movies in order. (Thanks, Disney+!) We have watched a third to a half of a movie at a time which has helped the fun last longer. The movies have also inspired hours of play – indoor battles with light sabers and Nerf guns, outdoor forts, new currency systems and languages, the classic movie soundtracks picked out on the piano, etc. I believe it will be a special memory for us all. Of course, I have also rotated through all the art supplies, science kits, and board games we have at our disposal! The pool has finally opened, and we’re adapting to the new reservation system.
While they strike each other with sticks and design their forts in the backyard, I have been able to complete my online training for teaching in the fall and read six books. Paul has continued to work from home in an ever louder environment (see paragraph above). And so our unusual summer began!
“The force is strong with this one.”

A fabulous way to bond the family: Star Wars memories will always "be with them." L, M
