Abby’s celebration was spread out this year since the whole family was recovering from the flu during the week of her birthday. Thankfully, everyone felt well enough on the actual day to enjoy steak and cake! Then we gathered with the grandparents a week later.
Theme: HorsesBreakfast: Blueberry scones; Lunch: egg salad sandwich; Dinner: Steak and mashed potatoes
Requested cake: Chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry layers with chocolate icing
Paul suggested donuts for Party #2. Yum!
Abby continues to be filled with joie de vivre! She has seemingly endless energy and is up for anything, anytime. In fact, Paul and I realized very recently that she never says, “I’m tired.” We heard her say it once towards the end of our Williamsburg trip, and it was rare enough for us to take notice! Her outlook on life is future-oriented. Even in the middle of a special activity, she is already eagerly asking, “What’s next?”
Abby is bold and confident. I have not seen her act self-conscious or hesitate to express her needs. Her willingness to ask anybody anything is something that we’re working on! When she is focused on a task, she is all in whether it’s piano, ballet, crafts, an outdoor game, etc.. When the activity ends, she moves immediately to whatever comes next without a backward glance.
Abby is upset by perceived injustice, boring work that takes too long, and not much else. However, when she is upset, she applies the same level of intensity to expressing her emotions as she does to everything else in her life! Most of the time she bounces back quickly. The threat of punishment (almost) always stops her in her tracks.
Abby’s current plan is to become a pediatrician, a mother of many children, and a historical impersonator at Williamsburg when she grows up. We wouldn’t be one bit surprised if she did it all!
