…and everything nice. That’s what little GIRLS are made of!

On Monday, Paul and I had the thrill of seeing our healthy, beautiful daughter. I required multiple offers of proof from the ultrasound technician that we are really, truly having a girl. She was 100% positive. It’s taken days for the shock to wear off, but receiving our first pieces of lacy, pink clothing (courtesy of my mom) and starting to think about the nursery has helped this happy news sink in.
It doesn’t matter how many ultrasounds you’ve had (and with Miles I had close to 20!) – each one is amazing! To study her movements and preferred positions, especially in comparison to the boys, was so much fun. Whereas the boys were all kicks and jabs, her movements were fluid and gentle. It certainly has felt different for me and now I know why! She spent the whole exam in a tight ball (“like a roly-poly” as Ryan said) and rolled around to avoid the limelight (Miles always loved being checked out and was especially proud of his manhood!).
Looking down at the top of her head, with her feet curving up to touch her forehead
Then we had the fun of returning home to tell the boys the good news. Ryan has been convinced from the beginning that he was going to have a little sister. How I wish we’d gotten his reaction on video! He jumped and danced and squealed with joy! The ultrasound tech had printed out a picture just for him, and he has carried it around lovingly ever since. He’s even shown it off to the cashier at the pet store. When we opened up our first girl clothes, he kept exclaiming, “For my baby! For my baby sister!” So sweet! Miles is too young to appreciate what all of this means. Just wait until October!
Two big brothers – what a lucky girl!
