Miles (enthusiastically) turns two!

Last year, Miles fought the aging process with tears and tantrums.  This year, he decided that a birthday can actually be a lot of fun!  He even seems eager for them.  Whenever I try to teach him to give his age, he says, “Three!” instead of two.

Since we would once again be at the beach on his actual birthday, we opted for a combo July 4th/ Miles’ Second Birthday Party with our families.

Miles’ “big” gift was a Bruder fire truck with crane.  Fire trucks have been a popular topic of conversation at our house lately (see previous post).

Fireworks 2
We ended the evening with a few backyard fireworks and sparklers, of course.

The birthday boy was already in bed, but Ryan loved watching it all.

Miles spent the morning of his actual birthday playing on the beach.  After naps, we drove to Broadway at the Beach for a few amusement park rides and ice cream.  We had hoped to stay longer, but the high heat and humidity did not agree with this pregnant lady.  Thankfully, Miles seemed more than happy with his day.

Miles is certainly keeping us all busy!  I’ve discussed his climbing ways on this blog before, and now he’s got the verbal skills to tell everybody what to do.  He’s added hundreds of words to his vocabulary and is using sentences more and more.  His first three-word sentence at 21 months was, “Where Puppy go?”  He hasn’t stopped asking questions since, including the never-worn-out, “Why?”   I’ve overheard him counting to 13, and he can sing his ABC’s.  He tries to identify colors, but as of right now everything is red.  We love the sound of his little voice and the unique way he pronounces so many words.  Absolutely precious!

Embarrassing public screaming fits notwithstanding, we know how blessed we are to have this healthy little boy, who adores his big brother and tackles anything in his path.  I pray that his fearless nature and fierce determination will mature into a powerful combo that will bring great glory to His Lord and Savior.
