Yesterday, we said goodbye to our Isis. She had been a part of our family for 15 years. Paul and I both grew up in homes with cats, and so 5 weeks into our marriage we headed to the animal shelter. We returned with 2 kittens, whom we named Cleo and Isis (I was studying to teach Ancient Egypt at the time!). They were our beloved “babies” for 8 years.
Just joining our family at 4 months old
Paul spent a lot of time on the computer.
Therefore, Isis was forced to spend a lot of time there, too.
Isis and Cleo were together almost all of the time.
Cleo already seems lost without her buddy.
While our actual babies naturally took priority, we believe it is important for children to grow up in a house with pets. Isis was the perfect cat for a house with young children. She never scratched or bit, even under the most offensive circumstances. As soon as Ryan began to understand how to gently pet her and read her body language, she started coming into his room every morning for lots of loving. She trusted him completely. Miles had been working hard to gain her trust as well, and very recently she began to drop by for attention during his afternoon rest time.
This little guy rocked her world.
She learned quickly to stay just out of arm’s reach.
Okay, not always out of arm’s reach
Ryan felt strongly about accompanying her to the vet for the last time.
We agreed that it would be meaningful to them both.
