Dinosaurs! Caleb’s current obsession!
I made a little video with Caleb on his birthday. Click here to see it!
Caleb is the baby of the family in so many ways, and yet he’s also way ahead of his siblings in others! At four, his siblings had never heard of: Jurassic Park, Alexa, Amazon, Google, Baby Yoda, Darth Vader, Nintendo Switch, Minecraft, coding, Andy Griffith, Nancy Drew, selfie….you get the idea! Caleb will spend hours studying science books on the human body or asking me to read Marvel stories to him. These books weren’t even in the house when Ryan was four! Caleb is just growing up in a very different environment. He can talk to you about his intestines (a fascinating topic for him) or haunted houses (Andy Griffith's haunted house episode has been requested dozens of times) or offer a possible solution to a crime (hello, Trixie Belden and Nancy Drew!).
Caleb spends a lot of time with puzzles, putty, and play doh (pretty sure the alliteration is purely coincidental). He has learned to identify his name and gets really excited whenever he sees a “C.” He’s making early efforts to write “C” as well:
And his pictures of people’s heads now include eyes, mouth, nose, and sometimes hair!
A few other favorites:
~ Color: black
~ TV shows: Dino Trux, Transformers
~ Food: carbs!
~ Music: Frozen 2 and Aladdin soundtracks
~ Books: anything about dinosaurs
And, finally, Caleb’s first roundup of sweet and funny quotes from the past year:
~ Caleb refers to himself as a “juicy boy” and “hungry boy.”
~ He calls dinosaur skeletons “dinosaur puzzles.”
~ When my mom’s dog Rhett pooped, Caleb exclaimed, “He is going to get a treat.... like I do!”
~ “Oh my goodness gracious!”
~ After sneezing, “I am not feeling very well today.”
~ “Honey Nut Cheez-Its” instead of “Honey Nut Cheerios”
~ He calls magnets “maggots.”
~ He always gives a cheerful “Sure!” instead of “yes.”
~ “Oh!” followed by a chuckle is heard often when he’s amused or surprised.
~ “Prince a booboo” is a phrase he finds hilarious! You can hear him use it at the beginning of the video linked above.
~ “My feet and hands are tickling me!”
~ Abby: My stomach hurts.
Caleb: Do you need to poop?
~ When I asked him if he enjoyed sharing cookies with his friends at preschool on his birthday: “No! I got one, and Ms. Kaila gave the rest away. I don’t like that.”
~ When getting ready to stir an egg at my mom’s house: "Let's see what we can do here.”
~ When he saw my mom’s drawing of a heart: "That's amazing!"
~ After Paul repaired the child safety gate at the bottom of the stairs: “It’s beautiful!”
~ Heard often during the past year, “I do not like potty training!”
Caleb, we are so grateful for your sweet, gentle spirit
and the privilege of watching you grow!
Just for fun:
