Miles doesn’t get nearly the blog-time that Ryan did. Thus the plight of the second child! Miles is 9 1/2 months old now, and he is well on his way to leaving babyhood behind him.
While Miles continues to be easygoing, I am discovering specific areas in which he is not inclined to “go with the flow.” He hates being examined by the doctor! Yes, he’s that baby that you hear crying all the way down the hall while you’re waiting at the pediatrician’s office. He is extremely impatient at mealtimes and will grunt loudly if you’re too slow between spoonfuls. He had his first haircut tonight, and it was not well-received.
I can tell this is going to hurt.
This is going to take awhile to get over.
Other recent highlights:
*At his nine month check-up, Miles was 28 inches long (50th percentile) and 16 lbs., 10 oz. (3rd percentile). What can I say? He’s slender like his brother!
*He started army crawling at seven months, and he has gotten considerably faster. He’s learned the layout of the house, particularly the location of the playroom.
*At eight months, he started pulling to kneeling and just before Easter pulled to standing for the first time. It’s still a new skill, but he practices every opportunity he gets. On Sunday, he even “cruised” just a little bit along the ottoman. The look of pride on his face is adorable!
*Miles got his first tooth at eight months, and the second broke through today.
*He’s talking a lot – mama, dada, baba, etc. We’re beginning to suspect he actually knows what “mama” means and is using it appropriately.
*Miles calmly tolerates Ryan’s enthusiastic hugs, toy taking, and tickling. They play together often now but always under close supervision!
I have often described Miles as a dream baby. He really has been. I have loved, loved, loved and never taken for granted the gift that these past nine months have been!
