My favorite month is halfway over. I am typing this on our back porch, relishing the 74 degree weather and the more-red-than-green maple trees in the backyard. This post is jam-packed because I have been unable to get the pictures from my phone onto my computer (Thanks, iPhone iOS 10 update!). Today, it inexplicably worked!
On October 1st, we welcomed my cousin Michelle and her family for the day. They had never been to our house, and the kids played happily all afternoon. We wrapped up the day with dinner at Panera Bread before they hit the road. We always love our time with them!
The following week, we took an unofficial Fall Break from homeschooling. All of our extracurricular activities continued, but home time was free time! The temperatures started to dip that week, especially at night, so I took advantage of the extra time to start The Great Seasonal Clothes Swap. We also visited the orchard with our friends!
Eagerly awaiting fresh apple cider doughnuts!
Naturally, we came home with a lot of apples, and I spent last Saturday morning peeling and coring for hours. The reward was worth it – applesauce, apple pies, and even Apple Bacon Cheddar Frittata!
We also discovered a new fall recipe that will become a tradition!
Peanut Butter Candy Corn Cookies! Amazing!
And what could be more seasonal than…. flu shots?! Yesterday, we took all four children for their flu shots and followed it up with Dunkin Donuts, another annual tradition that helps them recover from the injustice of it all.
A lot of fun activities are still to come this month – pumpkin carving, a birthday, and trick-or-treating, to name just a few!
